Your reliable and compassionate provider of quality childcare education

Clifford Glover (1973) is a 10-year-old African American boy who was killed by a police officer while he was walking down New York Avenue known as Guy R. Brewer Blvd today.

In 1978, a nonprofit agency serving the South Jamaica Community, where this child’s life was taken much too soon, decided to adopt his name to keep his legacy alive. The agency renamed itself the Clifford Glover Day Center, Inc.

In 2012, after many years of providing quality childcare services for the South Jamaica Community. The Board of Directors was presented with an opportunity to join forces with two other established, strong boards in the same community. The Myrtle P. Jarmon Early Childhood Educational Center, Inc. which has been in existence since World War II, was founded by an African American woman, named Myrtle Jarmon. She was a trailblazer and dedicated to creating quality education in a primarily minority community. Upon collaboration with other boards, we explained that we wanted to keep her name and continue her goal of providing quality childcare. The board of Concerned Parents of Jamaica Early Learning Center, founded in 1972 has also been providing quality child care for the surrounding community. The super broad created had a commitment to maintaining Clifford Glover’s name alive. They named the new organization Clifford Glover Day Center, Inc. and kept the names of the two daycares the same, Myrtle P. Jarmon ECEC and Concerned Parents of Jamaica. Since then, the board has been awarded a contract for two other centers to continue to offer high-quality child care in the Bronx and Manhattan (Harlem) and services families in these communities.

The Clifford Glover Day Center, Inc.’s programs have been recognized as high-quality programs for the past 8 years by Quality Stars of NY, holding a 4 out of 5-star rating. CGDCC has continuously supported these communities by providing quality childcare and hiring members of the community. We have served generations of families who continue to send their children to our site. CGDCC supports many programs, such as WEP, Summer Youth, and Jump Start, and has hired many staff from these nonprofit agencies. We are part of the community that we serve and our staff, families, and administration are from the community we serve.
